As Director of Ambulatory Services, Chrissy Manning is taking on the wide-ranging responsibilities associated with BronxCare’s outpatient network, which provides 900,000 outpatient visits annually. In her daily activities, Ms. Manning works with the medical and nursing staff and Practice Administrators in developing and implementing strategies to maximize quality of care and productivity, as well as to enhance access and maintain high patient satisfaction levels. She is also actively involved in business development, working closely with other hospital leaders in the budgeting process and initiating programs that are responsive to the Bronx community. "We are achieving successful outcomes, including expediting the appointment scheduling process and expanding our scope of services, and that is most important,” stated Ms. Manning.
It was in 2008 that Ms. Manning started at BronxCare as Practice Administrator for the Department of Orthopaedics. She came on board with Dr. Ira Kirschenbaum, Chairman of that Department. Ms. Manning had previously worked for Dr. Kirschenbaum as Practice Manager for his practice that spanned Westchester and Manhattan. “We built a strong team focusing on the importance of strategy and quality care. He knew this would be necessary for success at BronxCare,” stated Ms. Manning. During her time in Orthopaedics, she oversaw the rapid growth of the department, leading it to be considered a BronxCare Center of Excellence. This successful experience led to advancement to her current role.
Ms. Manning considers her educational background and continuing desire to learn as another key to her success. She received a Bachelor’s degree from Manhattanville College, with a major in International Business and minor in Spanish, and then went on to receive a Master’s in Business Administration from Long Island University. Ms. Manning’s quest for learning and perfecting her leadership skills was further advanced through completion over a two-year period of an Executive Education Program at Harvard Business School, with an emphasis on healthcare delivery and quality value measurement. Additionally, she then completed two separate programs in Women’s Leadership from Cornell and Yale Universities.
In her leisure time, Ms. Manning is involved in a variety of activities. She played on competitive volleyball teams for eight years and transitioned to a recreational league, post-high school and college, and still remains active in this sport. Ms. Manning is also fulfilling her passion for cooking by taking culinary classes at the Institute of Culinary Education in New York City. In addition, she is learning sign language and enjoys spending time with her family.
“I started my BronxCare career as part of a small family in Orthopaedics. Now, I have advanced to become an integral part of the larger BronxCare family and leadership team, and that is a source of pride for me.”
