Elaine Ortiz

Manager, Talent Acquisition, Employment, and Recruitment

Elaine Ortiz is especially proud of the difference she has made in the lives of many BronxCare employees. “It is really a rewarding feeling when an employee thanks me, even years later, for giving them the opportunity to work at BronxCare,” stated Ms. Ortiz. As Manager, Talent Acquisition, Employment and Recruitment, Ms. Ortiz has screened and interviewed countless numbers of prospective candidates. Her efforts are directed towards ensuring that potential employees meet position requirements. This process involves working with administrative, medical, and nursing leaders to address their specific employment needs, as well as performing background checks on candidates.

In order to accomplish her goal of securing the “best fit” for a position, Ms. Ortiz works with employment agencies and interacts with BronxCare’s labor unions and staff. She also posts positions online, actively reviews candidate applications and responses, and schedules post-selection interviews to discuss Human Resources and regulatory requirements. “Regardless of the substantial paperwork involved in the employment process, I always try to provide employees with a welcoming environment,” stated Ms. Ortiz.

It was in 2003 that Ms. Ortiz began her BronxCare career through an internship in Human Resources. This was followed by her attainment of an Associate degree in Computer Science from Monroe University. She was then given a full-time position in the Wage and Salary area and, based on her performance, was advanced to her current Talent Acquisition position. Ms. Ortiz remains committed to refining her skills and advancing herself. She is now pursuing a Bachelor of Business Administration degree, which she expects to receive in 2025.

On a personal note, Ms. Ortiz will forever be grateful to BronxCare’s Special Care Center for caring for her grandmother. She was a resident of the Special Care Center for 10 years until the age of 104. “BronxCare made it possible for my grandmother to live out her years with joy, and it will always be the place where every day I can contribute, make a meaningful difference, and truly enjoy what I do,” stated Ms. Ortiz.
